...of jail" free card? What they did was wrong. Even if their intentions were in the right place, what they did was wrong. They broke the law of another country, and showed typical American arrogance. We as Americans think so often that we can do what we please where we please simply because we are the "good guys" who make up less than 5% of the world's population. What these journalists did in the name of justice is causing an International incident that may be the incendiary device that brings forth the death of thousands. That being said, the punishment given to the journalists was deplorable and sickening. If you think they should be given a "get out of jail card" then why? What did these two journalist do to be exempt from another country's law.
oldwhite. Of course not. No one deserves such a harsh punishment for such a crime. No one. That being said, it simply not our call to make.
 
I don't think they should get out free but their sentence was just a tad harsh don't you think? I mean NK needs to get over themselves, those journalists did not have bad intentions they were just stupid and that doesn't deserve what they got. A couple of months and a large fine would be quite sufficient. It may not be our call to make but it is extreme and no one should be able to deny that, it is unnecessary.
 
What she did wrong was what 12 million people have done in America. That is, she crossed a border without documentation. Do you think that deserves 20 years in a prison that has a very high death rate?
 
i feel bad for her and her family, but she knew she was breaking the law, and she knew the potential consequences. in other words, she did a foolish thing and now has to pay the price.
