Why on earth would a stray animal be "wondering" down the street and be "weary" of being caught? When I know the meaning of words, and they are constantly being misused like this, I am ever getting caught again and again ascribing that chosen word's meaning to the description. Of course, it makes no sense. I stop, quickly make the correction in my mind, and move on. But it is particularly annoying because it is so frequent now! Others: affect/effect, there/their/they're...can you think of others?
Why do people say weary instead of wary, and why do they say wonder instead of wander?
