Why do people keep insisting that the education system benefits girls

because it includes coursework,? when in fact exams account for the greater proportion of the final grade for both GCSEs and A Levels?

If the theory that boys perform better in exams than girls (and girls perform better at coursework) is correct, then boys are clearly at an advantage in our current exam-based system.

"GCSEs are assessed mainly on written exams, although in some subjects there are also elements of coursework. Some subjects, like art and design, have more coursework and fewer exams."

"The majority of the assessment is by written exams, although in some subjects there is a small amount of coursework. There is also assessment of practical skills in subjects like science or art."

Senlin - I'm not arguing that, I would just like to know why people argue that the current assessment system benefits females when it would appear quite the opposite
It seems to me that the *problem* of girls outperforming boys is not with the assessment system (which appears to be set up to benefit boys)
