Why do people find dead baby jokes funny?

Please, actual answers to this question, not "I think they're horrible because I'm a loving mother of 3 beautiful children and it'd be horrible if anything happened to them."
Something intelligent from someone experienced on the topic if possible :)
I'm not a mother mind you, I'm a 17 year old guy exploring my psyche.
I find some hilarious but I love kids and I absolutely hate hurting anyone or anything. Thus the curiosity.
 
They're funny because they are so graphic and so out there, that they are not what you're expecting. There is some sort of name for the type of the device, but it slips me. The thing I think is that they generally are told with such a dead pan delivery and are outrageous that you can't help but laugh.
 
Because it's random. I mean, how many dead babies have you come in contact with in your life?

Besides, it's a joke. As in not to be taken seriously. I mean, dead baby jokes sort of border on the line of offensive, but they're all in good fun.

Even just reading the words "dead baby jokes" made me grin.
 
you know whats sadder then a dumpster baby. a dumpster baby that ate his way out of the dumpster.

It's not "people" but some people and such sick people have always been a minority part of our human society.No,nothing wrong would happen to your children with a loving and caring mother like you.All the best.
 
I don't know why people find those funny. To me, things are funny when the butt of the joke can fight back and make the joker the butt. Since a baby can't - living or dead - I just don't find it funny.
 
I think it's more for "shock value" than anything. Since dead babies are somewhat of a repulsive, even nauseating concept, people try to incorporate their usage to shock, or disturb. Some find it so politically incorrect, and distasteful, that it becomes funny.
