Why do people complain that politicians are never into politics for the sake

of their constituents? Are they truly that naive?

Do they think doctors are into medicine for the sake of their patients and lawyers into law for the sake of their defendants?
It's human nature to be self-serving.

How many of you have ever done something for someone who was not a blood relative, expecting absolutely nothing in exchange?

If it is naive to expect a politician to earn my vote through his or her efforts on the part of their constituents then I accept the mantle

Well...if people are complaining that politicians are never into politics for the sake of their constituents...that would mean they see the truth, that politicians are self-serving...and therefore that would mean they are not naive.

If you change the word "do" into "don't" then your question would make sense and you would be justified in calling those people naive.

Politicians are a different breed, they are chosen to hold office to enact the will of those who elected them.

Comparisons like those above have no basis in logic.

Because they should be and few are. Most people are not pushy enough or believe they could actually make lives better for others. Most who do go into some form of work other than politics. It takes a celebrity wannabe type to run in the first place, someone who thinks highly of themselves and their talents. No, I do not think all doctors are in medicine for the sake of their patients nor do I think all teachers are teaching for their students sake.
