Why do people believe that the Bible is the word of God?

If you're born in the United States more than likely your parents were brought up Christian. I myself come from a Roman Catholic family. However, if you're born in Afghanistan you're parents were more than likely brought up Muslim. As a result, you are most likely taught about and believe in God and his son Jesus if you're American and most likely believe in Allah and the prophet Mohamed if you're Afghan. A book that was written thousands of years ago and altered and translated throughout that entire time period isn't even close to the same as it was when it was first written. So even IF the Bible or the Qur'an really started out as the inspired words of God/Allah thousands of years ago their meanings and values would have been long lost. Also, what makes you think for one second that these books hold any more truth than mother goose rhymes? Other than the fact that you're parents TOLD you it was true and people that you grew up respecting TOLD you it was true. Your only sources of information through your life have been other humans...not Gods. Can you rationally justify why you believe that the bible is the word of god? I bet you can't.

BTW quoting the bible will do Absolutely nothing so don't bother. I just compared it to mother goose. It has NO connection to any kind of deity in my opinion. I also do not believe that there is a God. I promise to choose the best answer to anyone on the religious side who can give me a convincing argument. Please no I talked to God stories because i simply won't believe you.
