Why do people BELIEVE that the Bible is accurate in its history?

City of David?

You mean Jerusalem?

And the Archeological proof that many things, going back to the Old Testament, DID happen?

i believe most things are correct but many twist them to mean different that what Christ did you notice Christ said. "You heard it was said " and then he says" but i say "so if he were god doesn't that mean what was translated in the scripture was translated incorrectly read the scripture below thou shalt not kill was a 10 commandment and he said you heard it was said not i had told you

My theory is that most religious people deep down know that there beliefs just do not add up. But they feel obliged to defend them to the end just because, emotionally, people will feel crushed if they find out everything they have been taught is a lie.

Atheists have come to terms with the inconsistencies in these beliefs, and most adopt the philosophy of what you see is what you get. I mean, after all, most atheists were former believers. They took an objective look at their precious beliefs and said enough was enough.

It is ok to let go. Hell and Heaven are not real.

It's about as acurate as a 5 year olds painting of the Mona Lisa.

The bible is free for interpretation.

Archaeological discoveries verify the historical reliability of the Old and New Testaments.

When compared to other religious books, the Bible is unique in that it is the oldest, as testified by the places, people, titles, and events mentioned in the Bible; and the language and literary formats used to compose the Bible.

Many scholars today question the validity of Biblical accounts, supposedly based on the findings of archaeology. When the “discrepancies” are examined in detail, however it is found that the problems lie with the archaeology (i.e. misinterpretation of evidence, lack of evidence, or poor scholarship) and not with the Bible.
