These cars are amazingly good for their age, and C'mon they're cool! The point of owning a muscle car isn't to have a dime a dozen 2002 Corvette. People always say old cars aren't reliable and are expensive to repair. What?!! Yeah, if you don't maintain it! Older cars are simpler and generally more reliable than newer cars. It's just classic modern American ignorance. Don't buy a $4000 1980 Camaro cause that will be a money pit and get bad gas mileage. Buy a $30,000 new Toyota for savings in gas and repairs.
I have a '78 El Camino that's my daily driver. I fix it myself and save lots of $$$. It has a 1973 350 that runs perfect and has never been rebuilt to my knowledge. I have to let it warm up for a couple mins but that's no big deal. It steers better than any new car I've driven...smooth as silk. It doesn't handle like a sports car but it handles good enough for a 32 year old car with stock suspension. People are such babies sometimes.
