Why do parents take sports more seriously than their children do?

The chances of your child turning athletics into a career are so nominal they almost don't exist. This same issue exists in alot of other activities in which children partake (think those psychotic moms who force beauty pageants upon their toddlers), but I feel like youth athletics is the most apt example of parents who are overbearing and/or live vicariously through their children.

You would think these parents would realize that a less aggressive approach would not only allow their children to make their own choices (if they don't enjoy football, for example), or, if they do the enjoy the sport they are playing, less pressure would likely result in improved performance and an overall increased joy in said activity.

In closing, screaming at umpires, berating your children's performances, assaulting and, in some cases, KILLING other parents, doesn't make you supportive, it just makes you a douche. An enormous, insecure, pathetic douche.

Thank you
