complain? and 2 a 12-14 yr old? i just dont get it my parents gave me a cell phone for my b-day when i was 14 but it was a prepaid phone with mins now im 16 and i bought my own phone and pay the bill on it ive done that for a lil over a year now you know if you give someone a cell phone you know they are going to use it non stop an run the bill up especially if its a irresponsible teenager if your going to do it why complain?
i mean if your going to use the excuse that you need to contact them get a min phone and when they run out of mins dont let em go no where
i got cricket to where i could have unlimited calls without a contract or agreement or whatever
ok mayb i was 2 quick to judge but most people i hear from thats all they complain about is how their kid texts all day and thats what kind of friends i have is they text and call and they complain when their parents complain but i dont think you should give a kid a unlimited phone at the age of 10

Cell phones can be a way to TEACH responsibility or maybe they think their child is mature enough to understand and handle the responsibility of having a cell phone. If the child doesn't do as told, parents have a right to complain. And to make the child listen to it, for hours and hours. = )

My son had a prepaid phone from 9 - 14. He never went over his alloted minutes or texts and he never used them to where I couldn't contact him -- which was the whole point of the phone. Now he is on our plan, and he doesn't abuse it, he doesn't go over the minutes I allow him, and even though he is on unlimited text (we all are), he doesn't spend all day texting. When he's away and I tell him not to text (like at a friend's home), he doesn't. Just because someone is a teen doesn't mean that they can't follow rules. (And I'm not saying my son is perfect, but he knows he will pay for not listening to me, I can go on for hours and hours. lol)

Parents complain because they expect to be listened to by their kids and I'm sure no parents tell their kids to run up the phone bill.

You say you got your own phone a year ago and pay the bill on on it for over a year now. If that is true then how could you have run the bill up? Your parent got you a pre paid plan and unless you pay for your minutes up front you can't use it. So What is YOUR problem? Aren't they paying for the other cell phone plan that THEY didn't choose?
