Why do Native Americans get reinbursed for past injustices?

Doesn't that breed racism? Why do they get special rights for past incidents and no one else does?
They shouldn't get anything for what happened to their ancestors 100s of years ago
They get money from their casinos for being part of the "tribe"
If it's none of my business then why let the white man into your casinos?
oh right, otherwise you'd still be living in teepees
 
They should scalp you otherwise, what do you care daughters of the american revolution get theirs, doesn't that breed sexism.

The federal government doesnt give us any sort of 'Special rights'

Do not forget that we are Indigenous to this land and have sovereignty. I guess you can say the special rights we do have is that this is our orginal homeland.

Treaties have been broken which are lawfull documents so i think we should get special rights and reparations!

What they do get, is damages from the US violating treaties the US Government signed with the Tribes

The US government has always treated indian tribes as a separate political enity. Allowing them to be self governing and not under most US laws

The US has broken some of those treaties in the past, and thecourts have awarded damages to the tribes.
 
I agree with you. The teenagers on the reserves weren't even alive back then. We could have killed them all like the Spanish, but we're nice people.
 
WE DON'T GET REIMBURSED

We don't get free checks, tax breaks, or scholarships.

WE GET NOTHING

Our ancestors signed TREATIES, stating that we are our own peoples with our own lands. Which we still have to this day.

So stop crying about this shit, I'm tired of these questions.

What money SOME Tribes do handout, is from the TRIBE, not the FEDERALS or STATE. So it isn't your precious tax dollars, its OUR money that we made.

Whether or not some tribes offer benefits to their members is none of your business to begin with.

Oh yeah, I'm sure you know more about us than we do ourselves, god you guys are stupid.
 
Nothing the United States government can do could wipe out the debt owed to Native Americans. No amount of compensation can make up for confiscating their lands, rounding them up and forcing them to live on reservations, driving them like cattle from their lands in the East along the Trail of Tears to the Indian Territory, purposefully exposing them to smallpox to kill them, slaughtering millions of buffalo to starve them...Need I go on?

There are Native Americans alive today with fading family pictures on their walls of great-grandparents who were killed by federal soldiers in the 19th and early 20th centuries.

Study the history of the native peoples and the westward movement in America, then reconsider your question.
 
The following have gotten some compensation:
The Japanese in the US for being interned into camps during WWII
Blacks who had been sterilized, given VD, deprived of their rights.
Native Americans for pretty much the same thing.
Eskimo's. Not certain why.
I think Irish immigrants were given something.
The Mormons were forced to pay several other religious groups for incidents done in the 1800's.
BTW, the states tax the tribes. z
 
My Irish relatives weren't treated very kindly when they got off the boat, but I don't see us opening casinos.

The US took their land? Yes indeedy they did. That's what happens in wars where a technologically superior group meets one who is vastly inferior.
