Why do my fish keep dieing?

I have a normal type fo fishtank just a coldwater one with a normal filter and i have had loads of fish i have had about 10 and all of them have died. I look after them as well as i think i could i fed them twice a day then i went to the pet shop and they told me only to feed them once a day so i did i had 3 and after about a month they died and they have.Also i cleaned it out just like the people told me to, the fish were the fancy types like an oranda and the black moor.
why have they kept dieing?
