Why do movies sound so much better than games?

When I watch movies on my PC they sound realistic and detailed, explosions and gunshots are impactful, sound loud etc. But PC games don't sound very good, gunshots sound thin and unrealistic, explosions don't have the same sound, not even for games like Crysis which I expected would have good sound.
