were far inferior to the French? I notice history books especially those concentrating on general history often statet the Vietnamese had far inferior equipment than the French did in Dien Bien Phu.They state that the Vietnamese were very technologically outmatched by the French in Dien Bien Phu.But in reality most of the weapon the Vietnamese possessed were equally powerful as the ones the French had in Dien Bien Phu(some equipment they had were even far superior than those the French had)! For instance they had many of the most standard weaponry the Soviet Army used during that time! For example contrary to what most people think about the battle most of the Vietnamese troops were not ill equipped and only had bamboo spears to use in the battlee. In reality most Vietnamese troops used AK47s,sniper rifles, rocket launchers, and other standard Soviet infantry weapons! Also unlike what many history books tend to state, the Vietnamese did not have highly outdated highly inferior artillery to the French. In fact most artillery the Vietnamese had were just as equally powerful and has equal fire range as those the French used. Some of the artillery even outmatched those of the French in power and fire range! In fact the best artillery the Viethminh out ranged the best artillery the French had by a minimal of 75 mm!

The only area the French were completely superior in was air power (the Vietnamese had no aircraft at all) and tanks but air power they were rendered useless by the monsoon and foggy weather of Vietnam and the standard Soviet anti air guns used by the Vietnamese in the battle! Tanks on the otherhand were easily destroyed at the start of the battle because the Vietminh had battalions that were well trained in anti tank tactics and were equipped with powerful standard Soviet army rocket launchers and grenades and the French only had light tanks!

The Vietminh snipers even out ranged the best French snipers in the battles with Soviet sniper weaponry!Often in the battle French officers were shot down as the Vietnamese layed numerous assault on French positions!

Hell the VIetnamese even had the deadly weapons that significantly turned the tide in Stalingrad and in the Eastern Front of WW2:the deadly Katyusha rocket rocket launchers!
So why did history books state the myth that the Vietnamese were inferior to the French in every weaponry?Vietnamese and French documents contradict that!So those Bernard Fall's Hell in a Very Small Place!
French and Vietnamee documents.
