Why do most bible colleges ban or prohibit dancing?

I was just wondering why they do it? is there a biblical basis or is it simply because they are uptight conservatives?

I mean there is nothing wrong with a waltz, a tango, or even a nice little twirl with a member of the opposite sex is there?
