Why do marijuana fans argue so vehemently for legalized hemp?(legitimate...

...question, not trying to be combative)? we all know hemp does not have any real amounts of THC, so why do marijuana fans want hemp legalized just as badly as they want the "real" thing legalized?
and yes, i know the question can be turned around.... if Hemp has no useful amounts of THC, why was it banned in the first place...

What's going on here?

Laughter is wrong. Hemp is illegal to grow in the US, so what does the government do? They import it, bloody fools. All this does is wreck the balance of payments and take jobs away from American farmers who would love to grow the stuff. As to why it is illegal, just human stupidity, plain and simple.

Because hemp is a useful product, that if legalized, could soften the opinions of those who oppose marijuana decriminalization. As a product related to cannabis (for consumption), the promotion of hemp could help pave the way to eventual legalization of all its forms.

Edit: Industrial help does not contain THC in concentrations sufficient to abuse it. Hemp was made illegal along with cannabis because of short-sighted, knee-jerk decisions at the federal level.

Because hemp is the entire reason marijuana was criminalized. Industrial hemp could provide strong market competition to textiles, cotton, paper, biofuel, even reduction of pollution as some studies suggest marijuana fields remove more carbon from the area than re forrestation. I do not believe a capitalist market should be unfairly controlled by business entitites criminalizing the use of their competition for no other reason than because its competition.

Because legalization of marijuana hemp would almost certainly include legalization for marjuiana on some level - they are the male/female counter parts of the plant.

Hemp was banned in the first place because that is what the marijuana ban was seeking to get rid of, because of the market competition it was providing. There were technological advances in the making around the time it was criminalzied federally in the US (late 30s) that was similar to the cotton gin. If marijuana hadnt been criminalized, we could all be wearing hemp instead of cotton.

Hemp is not prohibited in the u.s. Never was. The arguments re hemp mean nothing. What is prohibited is cannabis sativa. While that plant can fall under the general category of hemp, the term "hemp" is not limited to that plant.

Baby steps, get hemp legalized and get marijuana legalized after. As for your statement, there is THC in hemp, why would they make it illegal if there wasnt?

Hemp has literally thousands of uses, from cloth to food to construction to fuel and on and on. Might I suggest you take a few minutes and study up on it, there is not enough space on here to get into it. Hemp seed oil can power diesel engines, hemp seed is the only food product that contains all the essential oils needed for human consumption in the exact amount the human body needs, hemp seed is a very good feed for livestock, hemp can be used to make a better grade of paper than wood pulp without using the harmful chemicals they use for wood pulp paper, hemp can make plastic cheaper and of a higher quality than plastic made from petroleum, hemp can make cloth fiber at a greater yield per acre than cotton, hemp fibers mixed with concrete makes a stronger cement, I could go on all day.

If your wondering, the U.S. already uses hemp in many Industrial applications,,we get it from China. Now, does it really make sense that the U.S., one time the worlds leading producer of hemp, now exports all of our hemp from China?
