Why do Lunar Eclipse Occur? and Who would be able to see them?

A lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes through Earth's shadow.

Anyone on the dark side of the Earth who has a view of the full moon can see the eclipse.
 
A lunar eclipse occurs when the moon passes through the shadow that Earth casts into space.
Everyone that can see the moon at the time can see a lunar eclipse. They usually last for at least an hour, and are quite spectacular (the last total lunar eclipse was Feb 21, 2008 (it was a magnificent event).
The next total lunar eclipse is Dec 21, 2010.
