why do images from my memory card turn smaller in my Samsung E250?

When I put an image file from my computer to the Micro SD memory card, the cellphone doesn't show it in such that it occupies the whole screen so when you use them for wallpapers, you get this two hideous gaps above and below the picture. the same happens when you transfer images from phone to card, it becomes smaller. Anybody knows why this is? Know how to undo it?
 
It's because you didn't set the resolution right.
You getting gaps on the top and bottom because the picture is to wide.
