Why do I look washed out in photos?

This is a recent thing. It's not the camera as it happened with my digital, my friend's, and a disposable.

I look totally normal in person. No one else in the photo looks like this, just me. My body looks normal but my face is completely washed out.

I tried wearing foundation one night, blush one night, etc but same result. At first I thought I was just pale, but then I went tanning for an event and was not even close to pale and I still washed out in all of the photos?

How can I make this stop happening? I feel like I'm ruining what could be great pictures because my face looks like a ghost!!

You probably have pale undertones in your skin (and everyone has mostly shades of pink tones) and the lighting picks it up. The flash of the camera illuminates your face just long enough for you to appear ghost like. Take some pictures in daylight, then inside, and different lights and see which one works best for you. Try without the flash.

wear really dark eye liner and makeup..go a little darker then your normal skin tone foundation..i have the same problem and dont look straight at the camera always tilt your head or do a side ways look..
