I am a 28 year old male and will be reporting to military boot camp next week. I got a letter in the mail informing me of what I should wear when I report, and it stated that all recruits should come in a clean white t-shirt, jeans, running shoes, white sports socks and white briefs. Why are they so particular about what we have to wear and will it matter if I just wear boxers instead of briefs, as well as black socks? I hate briefs--I think they look lame--and I usually wear dark socks, not whites. They're not actually going to make us take off our shoes, or strip to our underwear, are they? If not, they won't know what I'm wearing anyhow.
