Why do I have to keep jump-starting my car? HELP?

I have a 1996 Pontiac Sunfire, and just at the end of the summer, I replaced the battery with no problems.

On three separate occasions, my car battery seems to have died. The initial time was because my boyfriend is pretty sure he left the lights on over night. We would have someone come jump-start it, and it would run fine on the small, 10 minute trips we made, only for it to not start again the next day. We would have it jump-started, make a small trip or two, and then it would randomly not start up again when we decided to use the car for something.

Each time, no lights or anything are coming on when we try to start it. When we have it jump-started, it seems to take a little bit for it to work as well. Why is it doing this?? My dad can generally fix most things on my car, so what should he look for when he tries to figure out what the problem is? Thanks in advance.
