Why do I have a desire to get a girlfriend?

I know that I am too restless and independent to make friends and keep them, I'll get too bored of them and will move on to do things by myself that I usually do. But I am still fighting this urge to want to get a girlfriend. Why is this? How do I fight this feeling?
