Why do I get so sleepy after eating dinner?

This has been happeneing to me over the last year or so. After eating dinner I almost immediately (within 30 min. of eating) fall asleep. Lately its been happening almost every night (about 5 nights a week at least). It's frustrating because I don't WANT to fall asleep and don't feel like I'm in control of my own body in this instance. When I do fall asleep its only ever a nap (2-3 hours at the most) and then I'm wide awake again in the middle of the night. It messes with my sleep schedule and makes it so I can't hang out and do anything after dinner, which is irritating.
I'm in my early 20's, exercise at least 3-5 times per week, and I do have a family history of type 2 diabetes, although I never feel sleepy when eating any other meal during the day(even if its all carbs) or experience other symptoms directly related to diabetes.
Does anyone else experience this? Is there anything I can do to stop myself from falling asleep every time I eat dinner?
