Why do horses have chestnuts?

Well, years and years ago when horses were about the size of foxes they had five fingers, like us humans. So, when you look at a horses leg you will now know that the hoof was three of the fingers, the fetlock was the pinky finger and the chestnut was the thumb. So now do you get it ?

I'm confused. Just like the other person, did you answer your own question? Or were you wondering how that got there? It got there through evolution, or God made it that way if you don't believe in evolution.
