Why do Harley-Davidson motorcyclists not wear helmets?

I am not saying that they ALL don't wear helmets. But here in Wisconsin, I have noticed that the Harley crowd tends to not wear helmets more often than riders on other bikes.

I am looking for theories as to why this could be.
 
When the helmet is optional because of the laws I believe they might not wear them because they are more confident riders than those that ride the more sporty bikes, like the crotch rockets for instance. I am not saying Harley riders don't need helmets I'm just saying some of the more hard core bikers feel that either don't need to or its just not cool,lol.
