hostile alien forces be better? Think of all those scientists, politicians and celebrities they wouldn't have to pay off.
All they would need would be a film studio somewhere near Roswell and then 'come clean' about area 51 etc and just say 'trust us'.
They did such a good job with the Moon landings, over half the worlds population were fooled into thinking they were real! How much better could they do this time with all the advances in special effects that have taken place.
They could create an enemy that we could see and understand and hate! Not like this airy fairy science thing that, because we don't understand it, can't be true!
We would willingly dedicate ourselves to working really hard and paying loads of tax to protect ourselves from such an enemy.
Especially if we thought they had lots of oil!
So why did they pick AGW?
