i live in california and ive been recieving financial aid the last few semesters and i still have not figured out why the government delivers our checks the very day school starts. that means that (unless you are set up with direct deposit) you're going to have to wait a week AFTER school starts to actually get your money (taking into account mail delivery). what a pain! how are you supposed to pay for your books? do they expect you to go the first couple weeks without materials, or what?
personally i prefer to save money and buy my books online, but that means waiting 1-2 weeks for delivery. so if i dont get my check until the day school starts, i'll be falling behind in my classes by the time my books arrive. that means i end up having to spend hundreds of dollars more buying my books at the bookstore just to have my materials on time.
i also need a new laptop for my programming class, but since i have to wait until the day school starts for my money, i'm going to be rushing to bestbuy between classes to pick it up. not to mention that i'm going to be missing out on this killer sale they're having. urghhh!! so frustrating! why do they do this to us? i'm sure i cant be the only student frustrated by this.
the only thing i can think of is that maybe the government figures if they give us our financial aid 1 or 2 weeks before school starts, then we may end up blowing all our money on partying or something. but i mean come on! they're just giving us free money anyway, they can at least give us the benefit-of-the-doubt and give us a little time to get our materials before school starts.
if anyone has a clue about this matter, please post an answer.
thanks.
