Why do film makers still shoot big-budget, CGI laden movies on 35mm film?

Take the latest Harry Potter film for example: It was shot on 35mm film and the footage was digitized to 2K resolution so they could add all the VFX and edit it and then print it back on to film.

There might be something I'm missing here but that strikes to me as really pointless and a waste of money because 2K is only slightly better quality than 1080p HD so they might as well have shot it on HD because:

1. It would save them a huge chunk of money.
2. It's more efficient as you don't need to digitze the footage for the VFX as it's already in digital format.
3. The audience wouldn't know the difference (I saw Revenge of the Sith on the cinema which was shot in HD and the picture quality was amazing.

3. Is your problem

Film still looks like film.

Just because you didn't notice the difference, it doesn't' mean that others won't.

As more theaters are digital ready, film will phase out, but not tomorrow
