Fifty years ago, it'd have been reasonable to say that because of lack of contraception and family planning, people couldn't manage pregnancies so much.
But now, I don't think that's the case. Those goods and services are much more available.
What would motivate people living in slums or miserable degradations, who can barely feed themselves on a day-to-day basis, to think, "Hey! Two kids aren't enough! Let's have six more!"?
