Why do they say that as if it is some profound statement that is going to win them an "argument trophy", when really, there is NO moral law.
Consider the amazonians. The Haitians, the muslims, the jews, the germans (Nazi, anyone?) the gangs, the indians, etc etc etc, all of these people have different standards and codes of conduct regarding "morals" such as murder, rape, abortion, homosexuality, stealing, lying, cheating, etc etc etc.
So in order for this statement to show any value and benefit for the christians sake, wouldnt there first have to be a universal moral law?
Instead, it is not universal. Moral codes are cultural. And it just so happens that as cultures inter mix more and more thanks to advances in technology and communication, that we are becoming more like each other, with the most successful leaders being the dominant force of influence.
Thoughts?
And I am well aware that "gangs" are not necessarily a type of "people", but they are a group of people influenced by culture.
Jesus Freak: God did not create our conscience, our decisions to be "good" or "bad" are based upon our perceptions of the environment we live in. Furthermore, what you would call a conscience, science would call an evolutionary mechanism that allows us to adapt and adjust to living in a large groups, called villages, or towns, or cities. Its how we survive together.
