books say "any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, events, or locales is entirely coincidental."
then the author goes and says this character is like my sister!!
i just dont get it -__-

What they mean is any accidental resemblance to anyone other than the sister... they meant it to be like the sister but if that charecter is liek anyone else then they didnt mean to do that... get it?

Well, they don't want to get sued or offend anyone...but you can't help it, you always base characters a little bit off someone you know because the only way we know anything about human nature is by looking at real people and writing about them! They may not entirely be conveyed but little parts of actual people are always within characters. There are only so many personality types; you can't really make up a whole new person who bears no resemblance to anyone in the world! :)
