Why Do Atheists Debate Theists? Is Atheism Better than Theism?:?

atheism is just disbelief in gods, then there is no reason for atheists to be critical of theism and religion. If atheists are critical, it means they are really anti-theists and anti-religious, right? It's understandable why some might come to this conclusion, but it represents a failure to appreciate the cultural trends in the West which have led to the high correlation between atheism and things like religious dissent, resistance to Christian hegemony, and freethought. Atheism vs. Theism...

There is a reason for atheists to be critical of theists and religion when those theists and religions try so very hard to force their beliefs into our laws, in an attempt to suppress human rights that don't fall under the religion's beliefs.

atheism is just the default position. Since there is no evidence for any religion, atheism is simply the most logical position. That's it. Nothing more nothing less.

I'm outspoken against religion and theism. I'm also outspoken against anything thats a lie, deceitful, brutal, violent, humiliating, propagandizing, controlling, on and on.

If this is what you think should be "appreciated"?

Theism: Leads to crazy fundamentalist flying planes into buildings and bombing hospitals because they do abortions. Also leads to the discrimination to others such as homosexuals.

Atheism: Leads to logical outcomes based on facts and evidence.

"With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." -Steven Weinberg

There are many theists, both personally and in an organized sense, that insist that society adopt certain standards and practices, said standards and practices being based on their religious ideology and belief.

In this case, why shouldn't atheists debate with theists? If you have one person who wants the rules to reflect the morals and ethics of their religion, why shouldn't someone who wants the rules to be determined on a completely secular level step up and confront such a proposal?
