Even though they are fundamentally anti-intellectual and skeptical of logical arguments? I mean, since the very beginning, Americans defined themselves as anti-European, and since Europe was going through it's age of reason, pumping out philosophy and scholars left and right on all topics, Americans started to say that book learning ruined "common sense." Yet, to many other anti-intellectual people all over the world (such as Afghanistan) what they do and think is common sense. Obviously common sense is arbitrary, relatives.
So, does it boil down to the fact that they think that God is steering them? How is that different from radical Islam? Both people believe the same thing with different names, fanatically.
If I were a conservative I would not try to debate about evolution or how atheism is wrong. (I am not an atheist by the way). Was raised Catholic, now am just kind of wondering.
So if being American and conservative basically means being anti-intellectual, a disciple of common sense and the Good Book (Muslims have a Good Book too), why do they try to put forth arguments about anything?
(also) Don't they know that academically the debate about God pretty much stopped at Aquinas, who was a smart man, but could only venture out enough to argue that God exists, not that he is in any way like anyone has ever described him/it?
What is all this back and forth... so tired of hearing about evolution and God, can't anyone think for themselves anymore?
Hey disco person,
You obviously didn't anything. Faith has nothing to do with academic debates, unless you're talking about Kierkegaard, who I like, and who might help you expand if you ever used your brain.
I don't mean ALL conservatives. Of course there is Ron Paul who is an economic conservative, and those thinking conservatives. But I'm talking about the Yahoo questions and answers conservatives who ask the same dumb ass uninformed questions every two minutes.
But, in a way, I think that this applies to any conservatives who backs up anyone like Palin. Palin's fame is the best evidence for this not THAT biased rant.
