Why do all three main parties want to see more and more people in higher education ?

Only a small percentage of students actually study anything valid that will later be of use to the country , subjects like , engineering , the sciences etc . Most students do irrelevant degrees that they will never use . They want a degree so that when they finally go out into the real world they can demand a far higher salary . They're not interested in helping the country or anybody else , they're doing it to line their own pockets .
Surely this is completely unsustainable . We don't need more and more students costing the tax payer millions just so they can have an irrelevant piece of paper .
What we need is our own young people doing the jobs in this country that need to be done . Maybe if we didn't spend so much putting people through higher education , we could subsidise the minimum wage to a level that you can actually live on it . Then we could legitimately force people of benefits , stop cheap labour being imported from other countries , along with all the problems that brings , and start to put this country back together again .

What do you think ?
MrHairyman ; I don't want people to be uneducated quite the reverse infact . Children should be educated correctly at school . If they were most school leavers would know more than unerversity graduates do now .

I believe experience is worth far more than a bit of paper . I know plenty of people with degrees and frankly many of them aren't very bright . The most succesful people I know all left school at 16 .
I'm not stopping anyone getting higher education , I just think it should be done in your own time at your own expence . I think to be funded by the tax payer to do a degree course you should have to commit to a certain amount of years working for the benifit of the country .

Not really a pro-capitalist side, so the Republicans will go crazy.

I agree though. Losing a little GDP is a good sacrifice for having more GDP/capita

Right now we get (lets say) $15T/yr for (lets say) 300M people. That would get us $50K/person/yr. To be fair, lets say $40K/person/yr ('cause GDP is too high, and pop is too low), but still most people aren't getting that.

If we get the Income to be spread around, the rich will be a little less rich for a while, but then the public will spend and they'll get their money back.

because we struggle to compete in industry and manufacturing, the jobs aren't there, these kids cant all get jobs in media dance the arts and computer technology, so where else does that leave them to go ?disease and war no longer keep the worlds population down, natural resources are running low but the worlds population has to grow to turn a profit,

the answer is cut the profit out (down) cut the population down, cut the resources demand down and we might survive for a lot longer,
Ignore it, and it will bring Armageddon
