argue and call each other names? After some of the debates I remember seeing McCain and Obama seeming to chat it up like old buds. Also, after Obama talked down Bush for months on the Campaign trail I sawpictures after Obamaq won and he and Bush didn't seem at odd or uncomfortable together. So if they can do it why do the supporters feel like they need to fight.

Politicians are good at pulling it together and playing adult when necessary. Many of their supporters are not.

McCain and Obama are actually not all that hateful towards each other. McCain is a liberal republican and Obama is pretty conservative for a Democrat. The appearances is everything, although Bush really thought he was fooling people by appearing as if he had any idea wtf he was doing. Politics is a sport, there are rivalries and when all is said and done they have the same job to do. Their supporters however do not share the same luxury and tend to be pretty ignorant on both sides because they, well they are stupid, and ignorance brings fear, fear brings hate, hate and anger spur those who do not wish to have an educated debate over what to do with our country's issues.

Because the political elite know that at end of the day, they are all on the same team against the American people...

Either way, it's not very comforting to know that they sleep so well at night while those of us at the ground level are killing ourselves trying to make life better.
By the way, some of my comments on Yahoo can be harsh, but I am very polite in person... I am never rude to people just because they don't share my view. I think the internet is a different ball game.

They were elected because the voters found them charismatic. They are likely just as charismatic with each other.
