Why do all my fish keep ending up in my filter?

They are not getting sucked into it; they are swimming/jumping into the output space. It's getting really irritating. At first I though it was just my kuhli loaches (who end up in the filter on a daily basis), but now my guppies are doing too. I check on my fish several times a day. Now a few times a week I'll notice a fish missing, and sure enough it's in the filter. They're all still perfectly fine and unharmed, but it's just such a pain having to get them out every day. I was thinking about covering the output space with nylon, but I'd really rather not do that. The tank is in my living room and it's meant to look nice... nylon over a filter doesn't look nice >< If I have to use the nylon though I will. I'm just curious as to why my fish are just so fascinated with my filter that they'd swim against the current and jump inside...

i would just go ahead and put the nylon over it. i wouldnt care if it looked nice or not, i would care about the safety of my fishies!

Go Nemo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, your only solution is to make the way inpassable. You either need to block it with some type of screen or try keeping the water level a little lower so they are not able to get in that way.
