Why do all ancient ruins seem to lack a roof or ceiling? Lots of mighty pillars

and arches and some horizontal? members, but no real ceiling?

For example, the Parthenon, and all the roman ruins and all the mezo-american ruins.

Except the pyramids of course, but they are basically solid bodies with a few hidden passages.
stonehenge too.
well, i know roofs can collapse, but there is no evidence of a roof, no rubble, as far as in know.
