Why do Afrocentrics want African civilizations taught during black history month?

When it is supposed to be about black history month like civil rights, jim crow era, etc.? African civilizations should only be taught to Africans which makes sense, after all it is our history. In the west it is predominately white so that is why they only teach about European civilizations. So why do Afrocentrics want African civilizations to be apart of black history month when it is supposed to be black American history only? If you haven't noticed black Americans are not African.
