Why did you join the US Military?

I joined the US Marine Corps to serve my country. What are your reasons for joining the military? Pls name the branch of service and give a reason for why you joined. Thanks!
 
To go to exotic countries and kill exotic people, and to play with C-4. To get away from home. To serve my country.
 
My husband join the Air Force. He joined to support our family and to learn about avionics to build a solid foundation for a future job in a major commercial avionics company. It is a good job security in these troubled economic times if you have a good job in the military.
 
I joined fir the same reasons and more personal reasons. I am retired after 23 years and 9 months, split between the US Army and Air Force.
