The Canadians and Brits took their beaches with minimal casualties. They came equipped with amphibious tanks and tanks that cleared mines. It seems the US just sent in their soldiers without any kind of armour screen. Also, why could'nt the army call in navy gunners to blitz the pillboxes and also call in divebombers? It just blows my comprehension that they could allow a single German to fire a bullet on them given the enormous firepower they had.
