The President recognized legislation was needed to reform the regulation of Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) like Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. In 2003, the President and his Administration recommended "recommended the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis a decade ago. Under the plan…a new agency would be created within the Treasury Department to assume supervision of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the government-sponsored companies that are the two largest players in the mortgage lending industry." (Stephen Labaton, "New Agency Proposed To Oversee Freddie Mac And Fannie Mae," The New York Times, 9/11/03)

House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA): "These two entities – Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – are not facing any kind of financial crisis … The more people exaggerate these problems, the more pressure there is on these companies, the less we will see in terms of affordable housing." (Stephen Labaton, "New Agency Proposed To Oversee Freddie Mac And Fannie Mae," The New York Times, 9/11/03)

The Dem's want all the people to vote for them with giving all loans see what has come from there open border & give all policy>

sadly too many people in this country are of the midset -- don't you dare tell me what to do, but when i screw up you have to come fix things.

Some of the Dems

bought into the mantra John McCain has preached for years
Deregulate the Financial Institutions

regarding Barney Franks 3 YEAR OLD COMMENT

they sound EXACTLY LIKW WHAT BUSH and lil bush JOHN McCAIN
have been saying forthe past 1 1/2 years!!

Because Dems didn't care how badly they made America suffer.

It tells us a lot about Dems when they
1. blocked Bush from limited how big Fannie could get
2. then blame Bush for not regulating.

Also, don't forget about McCain's attempt in May of 2006. Although he is against regulation, he knows when it is absolutely needed and we could have saved ourselves from a huge problem. Good question, democrats will come up with every excuse but an answer.

The Democrats wanted to rely on large government backed institutions with unchecked power. The Republicans wanted to rely on large private institutions with unchecked power. Neither one was properly checked, and they're all falling apart.

Because They hate anyone who is a republican regardless if they are right or not. But now they are blaming Bush.Ridiculous.
