SOooooooooooo many of them continue to tour to this day, but just repeating their 1970s song. Some of them had so much talent, they could EASILY modernize their songwriting to today. Look at some of them -- Paul Simon, Rod Stewart made it into the 1990s even after his throat problems, Daryl Hall, Paul McCartney, Elton John -- legends in the 70's, continued through the 90's, some still making music.
What I don't get is, these guys didn't just suddenly 'lose' their songwriting or singing ability. So WHAT HAPPENED? Why don't they do new music today? Good example is Todd Rundgren. He still sings today - tours, etc. I saw him with Daryl Hall not that long back. Daryl explained that they grew up almost identically, so he definitely still has what it takes.
What am I missing???????? Why don't they write music today? I mean, even if they just sell their songs to more popular singers, I just don't understand why they stopped.
Why do YOU think they stopped?
