Why is this?
I've heard both not saving will make it not messed up, and that not saving will make it messed up just as bad.
I've even heard that it can mess up your ps2 , how does it cause this?
The game has absolutely nothing to do with the console system. Unless your cd is spinning at light speed and explodes in the console the game itself can never do damage to the system. It's not possible that the cheats had anything to do with your cd being scratched either. There must be a flawl in your console if that happened.
