...caramel apples? All that sugar is UNHEALTHY!

I am banned as is every kid I know banned from eating stuff like that!

I am amazed that kids back then weren't fat and didn't have sever dental decay.
 
Back in the 'olden days', there wasn't the Internet, t.v. or video games. There was also a lot more manual labor. Just as well, it wasn't as well known that such bad side effects existed.
 
The old days were fun for kids. We got a lot of excercise and went to fairs to eat cotton candy and caramel apples. When its only eaten once in awhile, it does not hurt anyone. Some parents now days are way to strict about sweets and their children miss out on some fun during outings. We have memories of the fun with eating those cotton candy and caramel apple treats. Chill out!
 
the health problems in kids are more sue to the fact that they are eating more processed foods and other chemical additaves..... our bodies are not supposed to be injesting that stuff... add on top that the "active" kids are put on meds, and everyones favorite past time is the xbox and you have your problem there.... sugar is not unhealthy if eaten in moderation.... i feel sorry for any child who does not know the joys of cotton candy and caramel apples.... (dont forget that fruit has sugar in it too, i guess its bad for you??)
 
Kids eat more sugar and fats these days than they ever did then..

Back then, more things were home-made, cooked or baked at home. So a little treat once in a while didn't seem like the worst thing in the world..which it wasn't.

Just because you and your friends don't eat 'stuff like that' doesn't mean tons of kids these days don't either.

There are tons of children who eat cotton candy and don't get fat or have tooth decay.

You're an extremist.

There are children nowadays who are overweight.
There were kids back then were were overweight.

How do you 'know' there weren't kids back then who weren't fat and had dental decay?
Were you there? Did you meet every child and look for decay? Geez..
