Why did my dirt bike stall?

It is not that I am not giving it any gas or anything. It is fully warmed up. It's not like it sputters and dies. The engine IMMEDIATELY stops as if I dropped the clutch in first gear intentionally to stall it.
This only happens very rarely, but it happens enough for me to be annoyed. Sometimes after I start my Honda CRF 80 and warm it up a little bit, I pull in the clutch, and immediately when I shift into 1st gear, it dies just like the clutch wasnt even in?? Why does this happen? Then after that I start it again and shift into first and it is fine!? It only seems that it stalls every time I start it for the first time after warm-up and then it's ok. As I said before, it does not do this every I shift into first. Any reason why it would stall when the clutch is in and I shift into first as if the clutch wasn't in?

If your bike is equiped with either or both a sidestand safety switch OR a clutch safety switch one or the other is beginning to fail. In the early stages it is exaserbating to most people because it does not do it all the time. Chance are it is the sidestand switch. Easy to get around-trace the wires up and disconnect then plug the ends into each other coming off the main the wiring harness. But you will have to remember to take the sidestand up before riding off and falling over and going boom. The clutch safety switch-if so equiped is usually not that easy to bypass. They seldom ever go bad and the ends are usually not designed to allow the rider to plug and play if the switch fails.

In either case, get a new one as soon as you can-especially if you are prone to not taking up the sidestand.
