Why did Britain and France declare war on Germany in September 1939?

I know that Germany invaded Poland which caused Britain and France to declare war on Germany.

But why did they do that?

So can you explain in detail why they declared war on Germany, and if there is any other reasons why they declared war can you please also state them as well.
