Why did Bella pick Edward in the the book (Twilligth)?

I am a huge fan of twilight, but there is somthing that i dont understand.
Why did Bella pick Edward? Cause early in the book she says she loves them bouth but she love Edward moore. Near the end she see that she also in love with Jacob. But i still dont get why she pick Edward? Dos she loved him moore or wase it because of Alice still see her change in to a vampier. I felt that she where moore in love with Jacob and edwars. So meybe somone could help me a littel maybe i just missunderstad what she is feeling.
Maybe somone can point out the page number where she pick Edward.
I am disepointet if she did pick him cause alice see that she still became vampier and i hope that isent the reacen and the reacen is cause she loved him moore.

All I know is Bella's character is very selfish. I'm sure she chose Edward because he could turn her into a vampire...

Well although she discovers that she is in love with Jacob, she says it isn't enough, that she loves Edward more and because Edward leaves her in New Moon, she knows what it's like to loose him and doesn't want to loose him again.
