Why did almost the whole world including Canada were counting on OBAMA to revitilize?

after the reaction of the Obama election the whole world were gave many suggestions to obamas plans on rebuilding?? why didnt people in Canada cared about their own Prime Minister to count on him to make changes in CANADA itself and even in the UK??
