plenty of food and water, he has a gazillion chew toys and a stuffed Kong. What could I be missing?
I've played with him a gazillion times today. Tug of war, fetch, we've walked, I've petted him.

Edit: He was whining 'cause even though he had just gone out, he needed to potty again and ended up using the floor instead. Poor baby. We've only had him a week and we're just starting to understand each other. Thanks for everyone's help.

do you play with him? he could have al the chew toys in the world and still be upset if you ignore him. another possibility is he's in pain so if giving him attention doesn't i'd take him to the vet.

attention. he seems to have everything but do u give him attention and play with him?

He might bewhining because:
attention
left out
keep him inside or keep him outside

you might want to call your vet.

He wants LOVE yours he WANTS to show you his LOVE
Could be he wants his bed
Could be he wants you to hold him
Ihave a 7yr dachshund and he talks to me ;
i have to ask him; do you want out
do you want the bed
do you want your chewies.
AND TRUST ME HE LETS ME KNOW HIS ANSWER.
Ask your dog he will let you know in his own way!!!!!!!!!!

My dog does that too... and she loves the Kongs! Your dog probably just wants to play. Interact with him a little. It's like asking a kid to play by himself... sometimes they just want to play WITH you.

Just love and affection. Maybe he wants you to play with him with those gazillion toys.

YOU...he is missing YOU....play ball or something with him. He is lonely :-(

Added: Hey Richard R....I have a spoiled little dog at my house too...why don't you bring your chicken shit a$$ over her and try to shoot her. You waist of space.

Added: Hey Richard....
I see that your answer has been removed.....minus 10 points for you...lol

Oh you just got the puppy...that makes sense. He will get out of the whining once he gets to know you and feels safe. Congrats on the new baby!!
