Why continue to breed dogs that can be trained to kill?

Why do people insist on keeping dogs that have vicious reputations? It intrigues me that people who profess to love animals defend the breeding of dogs that are bred to FIGHT dogs! Game Roosters are banned from being owned for good reason. They have one purpose, to fight and kill other birds. I believe that all fighting dogs should neutered so that the breed dies out. I realise that people have fighting dogs as pets, although it makes me wonder WHY? There is a genetic blueprint in these dogs that predisposes them to aggression. It may skip a generation, but its always there.

Academically, and with intelligent, unemotional argument, I would like to understand WHY aggressive fighting animals bred to kill other animals for generations before they became 'kid's pets' are considered 100 percent safe?

Sometimes genetics can't be helped.
